Critic Reviews Krishna Rukku

  • Bangalore Mirror | Review By -Shyam Prasad S Rating-6/10
The two highlights of the film are its locales. Jagadish Wali captures them brilliantly. If only the director could manage to weave some of them into the narrative mood. It is the difference in the details of routine filmi incidents that Krishna-Rukku stands apart. The credit should go to the original writers. The film makes for a good watch and thankfully is devoid of unnecessary 'commercial' elements.

The climax may seem a tad prolonged, but that can be forgiven considering that films of this genre merit that amount of drama towards the end. The music and cinematography are major highlights. In fact, the songs aren't yoked in unnecessarily, and the ones that are in the film linger on. Go ahead and watch Ajai and Amulya fight and love, it is worth an outing.

'Dilwala' director returns with 'Krishna Rukku', that is a clean copy of ‘Uyyala Jampala’, but modified a bit to adapt to the local taste, and the rest remains the same including the soul (love story) and the body (beautiful urban location) of the original. With no unnecessary elements, this one is a simple tale of two cousins with a love-hate relationship from their childhood.

Krishna Rukku is not mere romance. There is dose of homilies knit into it, in the form of subtle message for audiences of how innocent, village girls should not fall easy prey for wily guiles of beaus out to exploit them. Sumptuously shot around Chikkamagaluru’s sylvan surroundings, and fetchingly enacted by lead pair Ajai Rao (a regular with him) and Golden Queen Amulya, as chirpy, bubbly, naive village belle, Krishna Rukku is pleasurable time-pass fare.

  • Cine Sinchana | Review By -Raju Shanbhag Rating-4/10
Krishna Rukku is a remake of Telugu film Uyyala Jampala. It has all the trappings of a typical Telugu film. Huge families where all the TV actresses turned on screen moms have turned up in a large mansion wearing alarming quantity of jewelries; heroine’s father is a landlord and yeah, he is a tough nut to crack; hero has two friends who were born to hang out with him and check out any girls other than the heroine (I wonder why); and so and so forth.
