24 is all about Suriya. Every emotion is portrayed in his point of view; from love to comedy to pain to revenge, it all comes under his coverage as he plays three important roles in the film.  As a viewer you feel happy as he patiently communicates them to the audience with utmost sincerity. Special mention to his ‘Athreya’ avatar. It is an experience and it is best understood by experiencing it.

  • Times Of India | Review By -M Suganth Rating-8/10
Technically, 24 looks fabulous and this is one rare instance in our films when the cinematography (Tirru), production design (Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty) and visual effects (supervised by Julien Troussellier) are superbly in sync with one another. Even the makeup (Clover Wootton and Preetisheel G Singh) is subtle; it's a relief that the team did not go overboard with prosthetics to differentiate Suriya's three roles. Only AR Rahman disappoints with a rather serviceable score.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Sangeetha Devi Dundoo Rating-7/10
24 also leaves unanswered questions. Why did Athreya want the time travel device initially? What made him evil? What happens to the ‘present’ characters had time travel not changed their fate? Vikram wants you to trust in the time travel and forgo the present. The biggest leap of faith happens towards the end when Vikram compels the audience to give in to the possibility of a different version of the tale. This is a film that merits a discussion after viewing and that’s not a bad thing. How often do we get such films?

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Gautaman Bhaskaran Rating-5/10
Obviously, one of the twins has to be evil and envious of the other, a wizard of a scientist, who creates a little wristwatch that has the ability to freeze us all like in the game we played in our childhood, ‘statue, statue’. But the tick-tock contraption can also take us back by 24 hours to recap all the happened, and yes to recap in the way we wished all those things to have happened.

  • DNA | Review By -Latha Srinivasan Rating-7/10
As enjoyable as the film is, it is a tad too long at 2 hours and 44 minutes. The pace of the movie can be quickened by trimming down at least 20 minutes of the film. And this is one aspect that editor Prawn Pudi perhaps could have focussed on. This movie is a must-watch for Suriya's stellar performance and director Vikram Kumar's time travel script. 24 is a visually stunning film with a novel concept.

  • Mid Day | Review By -Shubha Shetty Saha Rating-6/10
Even then, '24' is a fantastic attempt at sci-fi genre of filmmaking and also belies a lot of hard work and thought that have gone into this at the screenplay stage. Also, with breath-taking visuals (cinematography by Tirru) and melodious music (by AR Rahman), it is paisa vasool.

  • Rediff | Review By -S Saraswathi Rating-6/10
The screenplay is loaded with unpredictable twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The graphics are excellent, and equally stunning are the music and visuals. Suriya, however, is undoubtedly the star of the show, especially as the cold-blooded Athreya, showing no mercy. Director Vikram’s 24 is a cleverly crafted entertainer that is worth your time and money.

After a long time, I was able to enjoy a mainstream Tamil film, especially one starring an A-list actor. 24 has all the ingredients to impress both Suriya fans and non-fans alike. In fact, even a non Tamilian can enjoy the film. This is the kind of flick you would want to go back in time and watch all over again. Or you could go for the next screening! Bollywood, you just got a terrific film to remake!

  • India Today | Review By -Kirubhakar Purushothaman Rating-7/10
Making a film about time travel (or anything on sci-fi, for that matter) is like attempting a question in an interview which you don't know the answer to. The more you blabber, the more you get yourself into trouble. It is better to keep it low, and that's exactly what Vikram Kumar has done with 24. He hasn't bothered to take lessons about relativity and quantum mechanics. The minimalistic approach towards the scientific concepts has saved a lot of trouble for the director and the film.

  • Danie Britto | Review By -Danie Britto Rating-7/10
Barring monotonous, mediocre romance, 24TheMovie has everything in it to become a smash hit. The director has tried his level best to make the movie understandable to the B and C centre audiences and has achieved partial success in it. Now we hear that the second half of the movie is trimmed by 10 minutes, which means you don’t have to bear with a highly boring love sequence before the Naan Un Azhagniley song.

  • Filmi Beat | Review By -Avinash Gopinath Rating-7/10
Writing and screenplay by Vikram Kumar is formidable. 24, barring a few romantic scenes and an unnecessary song, is a roller-coaster ride. Though the second half is a tad slow, the film manages to keep you hooked throughout. Surprisingly, AR Rahman's music is not up to the mark. While background score is only average, his songs are made bearable by brilliant visuals.

  • AP Herald | Review By -Common Man Rating-6/10
Vikram Kumar has proved his mettle once again, and in short he has proved that the success of 'Manam' is not just Luck. He has provided Quality entertainment with '24' and he has done lots of research for the movie. It is obvious in each and every frame. There is a surprise twist at the Interval block where younger suriya meets his past and everyone will definitely come to edge of the seat. Editing should have been a lot better. The movie has its flaws, and we can also say the movie has shades from various Hollywood movies, but still this one is a 'Welcome' note to Tamil cinema.

24 is surely one of the most technically brilliant films that has come out in the recent past. Suriya’s spell binding triple role, racy thrills and engaging concept will impress you big time. This film will take Suriya’s stardom to the top level and proves that whenever he does something different, it is bound to attract everyone. Finally, if you keep your expectations in check and bear the lack luster love track, 24 will entertain you completely.

  • Chitramala | Review By -Vikram Guru Rating-6/10
Screenplay is lagging and is slow paced. Family union scenes which comes in this half looks silly for its backstory. It picks it pace in pre-climax and climax proves the intelligence of director Vikram Kumar. To sum up, 24 is for Suriya’s brilliant performance with a sci-fi experimental content.
