Critic Reviews U Turn

  • Times Of India | Review By -Sunayana Suresh Rating-8/10
U Turn even appeals to the lay viewer who seeks thrill and entertainment and nothing more. What impresses is the cinematography, editing and the brisk screenplay, and not to forget Poornachandra Tejaswi's background score. Go take this U-Turn to the cinema hall, Pawan proves why he is sought after globally as one of the young, intelligent minds to talk about the changing face of cinema.

‘U Turn,’ is nothing short of brilliance in first half until it is taken over by an unseen force. Everything which looked so well crafted - from the plot which keeps the audience engaged without an iota of boredom to the well portrayed characters, starts diluting the moment the real face behind the mystery comes into play.

  • Bangalore Mirror | Review By -Shyam Prasad S Rating-6/10
It is a thriller that gives the chills, soars the suspense levels and brings you to the edge of your seat by the time interval arrives. After that, though, it is a different story. It is what happens post interval that makes or breaks any film. Here, Pawan takes the easier route and robs U Turn of becoming a great film. The film still makes for an entertaining watch and the dumbing down probably betters its box office potential.

  • Cine Sinchana | Review By -Raju Shanbhag Rating-7/10
Pawan Kumar’s U-Turn is a wonderfully shot, edge of the seat thriller that builds up a nail biting tension until the climax and then loses fizz as the story turns into a supernatural revenge drama. But a little disappointment in the climax notwithstanding, “U-Turn” is fine film, a thriller as it should be; taut, interesting, and feels mighty realistic.

  • Catch News | Review By -Rahul Desai Rating-6/10
U Turn seems audacious because it not only explores the cruel quirks of fate - of how seemingly harmless actions lead to a domino effect of life- altering consequences - but also because it dares to teach you lessons in a language you will understand. It attempts to instill fear, because there is rarely a more potent cinematic cocktail than that of tragedy and terror.

  • Piping Hot Views | Review By -Moheesh
In an age where the quality of the movies in the industry has been degrading with every movie release and there is a huge clamor for quality of the content, U-turn is a welcome change. Devoid of superfluous commercial rudiments and a strong storyline that is well etched by artists who breathe lives into the roles, U-turn is a movie that cannot be missed.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Archana Nathan
The heart sinks when the climax is revealed in Pawan Kumar’s U Turn. ‘Is that it?’ echoes in the cinema hall because until then Kumar had constructed a pretty thrilling plot, one that was devoid of loopholes and pretence. However, during the last 30 minutes, it is almost as if Kumar did not know what to do with the puzzle that he had so interestingly devised. And so, he ends up taking refuge in the much abused and clich├ęd trope of the horror/thriller genre.
