Critic Reviews Velainnu Vanthutta Vellakaran

  • Times Of India | Review By -M Suganth Rating-6/10
There are some films that announce straightaway that they are not going to try anything ambitious and at the same time, not make us regret our decision to watch them. Velainnu Vanthutta Vellakaran (VVV) belongs in this list. It is a moderately funny film with five to six comic sequences and one running gag that make you laugh out loud.

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Gautaman Bhaskaran Rating-4/10
Nobody can have misgivings over Tamil cinema’s plot novelty, but often the treatment lacks cinematic maturity. Ezhil’s Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran could have been a delightful spoof or even a satire on present-day India with its rampant rottenness in the police force and the administration, but the film is allowed to slip into a mindless mess.

  • Rediff | Review By -S Saraswathi Rating-4/10
At 2 hours and 20 minutes, the film seems painfully long and tedious. There are some brief moments of fun, but the humour seems mostly forced and the narrative scarcely moves forward. Technically ordinary with over-the-top music, weak screenplay and poor editing makes director Ezhil’s Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran is a forgettable film that is not worth your time.

  • Deccan Chronicle | Review By -Anupama Subramanian Rating-5/10
The first half moves at a predictable manner and slow, post interval, it picks up momentum with continuous laughs. Satya’s music goes well with the mood of the film. Other technical aspects are just about adequate.  Overall, Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran has its funny spells and entertaining.

  • Danie Britto | Review By -Danie Britto Rating-3/10
For the mentally tired and bored audience, the out-of-coma Robo Shankar in the second half is the messiah and keeps the movie engaging to some extent. Prefer some other movie even if you want to kill time. This movie will lead to brutal murder of time, for which you’ll feel even if you have enough time to waste.

  • Behindwoods | Review By -BW Review Rating-5/10
VVV is not a long film, it runs just over 2 hours and 15 minutes, but the film actually look a little long due to the lag in the first half. It takes time to settle. A little more sprucing and tightening in the first half could have helped the proceedings. If you can give away the logic, VVV will entertain you.

  • Filmi Beat | Review By -Avinash Gopinath Rating-5/10
If comedy is the hero of Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, then logic is its villain. The movie has enough in it to tickle your funny bone throughout, but it requires you to throw the logic out of the cinema hall.If you don't mind laughing your heart out at brainless comedy, Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran is a must watch!

  • AP Herald | Review By -Common Man Rating-4/10
In fact he tried to emulate Siva Karthikeyan in few scenes and that has worked out too. At the same time, if you think more Logic and find Loopholes, this is not the movie for you. Leave your brains at home and just enjoy it.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Baradwaj Rangan
He spices up a routine love duet with a brass band. Unlike the typical song where the beat stays (mostly) the same around varying melodic lines, we get a techno-gaana with a fixed melodic unit backed by beats that keep changing. We even get jazz tones in the background score. The title really applies to him.
