Critic Reviews Great Grand Masti

  • Times Of India | Review By -Mohar Basu Rating-6/10
The director makes his men stay dedicated to the goofy gags, which they pull off effortlessly. The lame innuendos, the silly jokes and humour about the genitals are judiciously packed into the script. For those who have a taste in adult comedies, Great Grand Masti is a fun weekend watch and one of the better ones we've seen this year. Go guffaw!

Alas, the key problem here is that none of it is particularly original or inventive. One doesn’t expect a sex comedy to be smart or tasteful, but “Great Grand Masti” isn’t even as outrageous and offensive as the recent Sunny Leone starrer “Mastizaade”. It settles for plain, dull and boring. I’m going with zero out of five.

Directed by Indra Kumar, ‘Great Grand Masti’ is one of those films that leave you speechless not in a good way of course. The film is a cocktail of stale double entendres, annoying one-liners and disgusting toilet humour. The film has no logic to it and whenever it picks up pace, it is too late.

Great Grand Masti is not a film. It is an embarrassment. It is a severe headache inducing exercise. Let’s hope that Indra Kumar finds better joke-writers if he plans another one, or better, stop this assembly line production once and for all!

  • Bollywood Hungama | Review By -BH Network Rating-4/10
On the whole, GREAT GRAND MASTI fails to capitalize on the strong franchise value on the account of poor script which hardly offers any masti or entertainment to the audience. At the box office, its prospects appear extremely weak.

You're still going to laugh at some of the stupidest, lamest jokes ever to make it to screen. That you're going to wonder why you have such bad taste to have sat through around two hours of utter tripe without so much of a complaint. Strictly recommended viewing for people who want to get sledgehammered with silliness. Or just hammered by ham. You know you want it!

As if the cringe-worthy story wasn't enough, the makers have added random songs in the film, making it a difficult watch. In a nutshell, Great Grand Masti is neither great nor grand, and it doesn't have any masti elements either.

  • India Today | Review By -Suhani Singh Rating-1/10
What Great Grand Masti does, knowingly or unknowingly, is subvert the sex comedy genre by having the horny husbands meet their match in an equally horny female ghost who wants to satisfy her own unmet carnal needs and thereby attain nirvana. That's the extent of originality you'll see here. Rest is all brain freeze.

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Rohit Vats Rating-0/10
Great Grand Masti is an effort to degrade us. Wake up, because director Indra Kumar is insulting the audience. What he has dished out in the name of a sex-comedy is puerile, utter nonsense and disgusting. Don’t you dare smile! Even if you do, do it with a sorry face. Who knows, a smile might turn out to be the inspiration for an even greater ‘masti’.

  • Mid Day | Review By -Shaheen Parkar Rating-2/10
The direction is lazy and pathetic, and the music jarring, It appears that some Tom, Dick or Harry was calling the shots while the director was taking a nap on set. What were the makers thinking? The only attention seems to have been paid to the girls' skin-baring costumes and the boys' boxer shorts. There is no masti in this one; rather, it looks like things were done zabardasti.
