Critic Reviews Babu Bangaram

  • The Hindu | Review By -Sangeetha Devi Dundoo Rating-5/10
Babu Bangaram shows how a film can fall flat if it banks only on a quirky character trait and doesn’t bother with a reasonably good plot or a coherent narration. The ‘ayyo ayyo…’ line lingers, because it’s apt to describe the experience of watching the film. This nostalgic trip is far from fun to declare that ‘Bobbili Raja’ is back.

  • Times Of India | Review By -Pranita Jonnalagedda Rating-5/10
To be fair, Venkatesh has done his best ever. But the biggest flaw of this film is a cliched narrative paired with shoddy writing. Maruthi tries to ape the formula of situational comedy which was a result of the hero's character in his previous film, and what they try to pull off as comedy, instead, goes on to become a series of gags which are unfunny and even irritating in this film.

  • Deccan Chronicle | Review By -Suresh Kavirayani Rating-6/10
When it comes to the performance, Venkatesh again proves that age is not a problem. He has played two shades perfectly. To sum up, Babu Bangaram is a predictable film with a normal subject and Maruthi has completely failed to tackle the second half of the film. Except for a few hilarious scenes between Venkatesh and Prudhvi, the film has nothing much on offer.

  • News 18 | Review By -Karthik Keramalu Rating-5/10
Babu Bangaram suffers from the action-comedy syndrome. It means that the director has failed to balance both of them. Venky’s cop avatar is a definite nod to Gautham Menon’s Gharshana. BB is neither a photocopy nor an original. It lacks the flavor of a cop drama. While Maruthi gets a stiff thumb, Venkatesh gets a thumbs-up for Babu Bangaram.

Babu Bangaram showcases Venky in yet another interesting role after a long time. Venky’s performance in various shades and decent comedy during the first half are huge assets. But the film takes a back seat during the second half as things get a bit serious. Finally, If you keep your expectations in check and ignore the routine story line, you can happily watch this time pass entertainer with your entire family.

  • AP Herald | Review By -Common Man Rating-4/10
Babu Bangaram is Below-average and it is no where near 'BBM'. Maruthi has clearly failed to ride on his success. Comedy scenes are pretty ordinary and weak screenplay pulls the movie down even more. Cinematography and Background score alone saves the movie. This is definitely not the come back Venkatesh would have anticipated.

  • Behindwoods | Review By -BW Review Rating-5/10
The second half of the film works better than the first. The comedies keep coming in regular intervals which partially blinds the wafer-thin storyline. Though the screenplay is not tight enough, the director manages to withhold the audience with a couple of twists and fun moments. It has something for every type of audience. Babu Bangaram is a one time watchable quintessential popcorn flick!

  • Now Running | Review By -NR Review Rating-4/10
Finally, Babu Bangaram is definitely not the product what you expect from Maruthi and Venkatesh. It is another routine template comedy. But then the movie is still a one time watch given the entertainment quotient it offers.

  • Chitramala | Review By -Vikram Guru Rating-5/10
Director Maruthi has done a mediocre job in terms of script and tried his best to show Venkatesh in a new way and he is succeeded to a good level. He tried his best to inject comedy wherever possible and has used Prudhvi, Vennela Kishore and Posani Krishna Murali and Brahmanandam. To sumup, this Venkatesh starrer in the direction of Maruthi has nothing much to offer.
