Critic Reviews Joker Tamil Movie

  • Filmibeat | Review By -Avinash Gopinath Rating-7/10
While the first half keeps you guessing the reason behind the protagonist's weird antics, the second half justifies his actions. Dialogues penned by Raju Murugan are razor-sharp and makes you ponder over the system that we have set up for ourselves to live in. Joker is a well-written film which conveys the importance of a good political system with a dash of humour.

  • Times Of India | Review By -M Suganth Rating-7/10
The first half-an-hour or so of Joker plays out likes a farcical drama on contemporary society and politics. Director Raju Murugan (who earlier gave us Cuckoo) doesn't spare anyone. From cops who salute helicopters flying across the sky to leaders who stage half-day hunger strikes and movie stars, everyone is a fodder for his sharply written dialogues that sting like barbs.

  • Behindwoods | Review By -BW Review Rating-6/10
The movie is crisp with a running time of 2 hours and 10 minutes. Art direction has been noteworthy, for the fact that the locations and properties used in the film can be easily associated with the film's core plot. Overall, Joker is a bold and hard hitting political satire that might have compromised entertainment but stands high on cast, music and writing.

Clocking at just above 2 hours, Joker lives up to its name: that in a digital age ruled by social media, protestors who oppose injustices are no longer seen as cringe-worthy buffoons. That though, a few decades ago, would have been nearly inconceivable. A film not to be missed!

  • The Hindu | Review By -Baradwaj Rangan
You expect explosions of righteous rage. Instead, we get how pathetic, how powerless he is. Watch him search for the right word while addressing Supreme Court judges in English. “I reject your [pause] judgement.” A good actor can dust the cobwebs off clich├ęs. A great one can (almost) make you buy a message movie.

What makes Joker more interesting is its dialogues which were meticulously crafted to hit the target which is pretty much our Government. Every dialogue was celebrated by the audience and were having a ball of laugh. The film has a wit which will impress you instantly right from the first frame.

  • Piping Hot Views | Review By -PHV Review
A vital point to be noted with 'Joker' is the resoluteness of the maker & the producer in not bending to the rules and naming the film in Tamizh for claiming tax exemption in Tamil Nadu. That courage shines throughout the film in the plot, dialogues and the performances giving a wonderful output on screen!

Plot Synopsis
'Joker' is a social-political satire about a common man who questions the system and the sensitized society who are immune to the troubling issues surrounding them.

'Joker' revolves around a middle-aged man who lives below the poverty line and feels that people should have the power to not just elect their representatives but also to send them back if they are corrupt.
