  • Times of India | Review By -M Suganth Rating-6/10
And for an (almost) frame-by-frame remake, the scenes feel stretched and Jawahar doesn't quite capture the playful tone of the original. For those who have seen the original, this Tamil version wouldn't seem as charming (obviously!), but there is enough here for someone looking for light-hearted entertainment.

Overall, although the director has managed to give an apt first half, the second half looks vaguely stagnant. If the director had addressed this, the movie could have had a better connect with the audience. Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai is a decent love story that lacked depth.

The film has many logical loopholes. While topics like communism worked well in the original film, it doesn't create much of an impact in Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai, especially when it is being told from a place like Kanyakumari. Overall View: Though not as good as the original, Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai makes for a decent one time watch.

Really, one has seen love stories and love stories and love stories, some tragic, some not. Mithran Jawahar’s Meendum Oru Kadhal Kathai is -- as the title avers, A Love Story All Over Again -- precisely that. Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai is eminently avoidable.

The opening credits of the movie showed some cheery attitude, and when the main picture began, it went down the drain. The other positive thing about the movie was the soundtrack album. That’s only a light compliment. If you remove GV’s songs, you’ll get a film that’s boring. On the whole, the experience of watching Meendum Oru Kadhal Kathai is like eating one-week old Bonda.

Agree, Mithran Jawahar has made a faithful remake, but he could have added few things to suit the local flavor. Certain situations tend to defy logic, nevertheless the breezy narration combined with extraordinary background score from Shaan Rahman and crystal clear cinematography by Vishnu Sharma, MOKK is a feel good romantic fare is watchable once.

Even the title of the original was better. For a tale about a Muslim girl’s forbidden love, there’s so much intrigue in the title Thattathin Marayathu (behind the veil). But the Tamil version is exactly what its title suggests… just another love story.
