Critic Reviews Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Gautaman Bhaskaran Rating-4/10
Tamil cinema often allows itself be distracted by bland romances, puerile humour and sappy songs. Debutante director Premsai falls into this trap -- but probably with the noble intention of offering ‘fulsome’ entertainment. But what appears on the screen is a string of irritating interludes that destroys a subject as disturbing as misuse of stem cell technology. The film is Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum in Tamil.

  • Times Of India | Review By -M Suganth Rating-5/10
With a premise (which has shades of Premium Rush) that could make many directors feel envious for not having thought of it first, Premsai gets the first thing right in Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum, his directorial debut. But, unfortunately, that is only of the few things he does well in this film, which displays a split personality — it is engrossing one moment and infuriating the next.

Overall the director has taken up quite an intriguing plot, but misses the bull’s eye when it comes to execution. But one can say that Premsai has done a reasonably fair job in his debut. Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum is a decent delivery that could have been little faster and sharper.

  • Filmi Beat | Review By -Avinash Gopinath Rating-5/10
Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum has a promising plot, but is marred by poor screenplay which includes several unwanted elements, both in the first as well as second half. This Jai-starrer could've been an edge of the seat thriller. But how many Tamil directors are bold enough to completely trust their story? Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum is another film that suffers at the hands of commercialization.

  • Rediff | Review By - S Saraswathi Rating-5/10
At just 112 minutes, the director wastes no time on the good or bad, and keeps the momentum going. Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum may not be a gripping thriller, but has an interesting plot, moves along briskly with some fun moments, has a great background score and high octane stunts in the climax. Quite a decent attempt by a debutant director.

  • Deccan Chronicle | Review By -Anupama Subramanian Rating-4/10
Seemingly inspired by Hollywood flick Premium Rush, debutant Premsai has tweaked the script to suit the local flavor. On paper, the idea might have looked thought provoking, but while transferring it to onscreen he misses out in his narrative. Karthik’s music is okay. The commercial thriller is enjoyable only in parts.
