Naa Ninna Bidalaare Kannada Movie Review

Naa Ninna Bidalaare is a 1979 horror movie starring Anant Nag and Lakshmi in lead roles. Naa Ninna Bidalaare is a story of Krishna (Anant Nag) who is in love with Gayatri (Lakshmi). Krishna and Gayatri get married, but Krishna's past comes back to haunt them.

The movie takes its own time to get going and focuses on Krishna and Gayatri's love story early on.

Krishna and Gayatri, both are madly in love with each other and want to get married. There is no hurdle for their marriage and everything seems fine.

The first 30 minutes of Naa Ninna Bidalare is love story, songs and comedy, serving as a prelude for the rest of the movie. To be honest, Naa Ninna Bidalaare is all over the place in the first half an hour and is quite muddled.

Krishna and Gayatri's marriage is now announced and everyone is busy with the preparations. All is well till now. But on the day of the wedding, something makes its presence felt. Krishna is getting ready for his marriage in his room, ink falls on a photo of him and Gayatri together.

40 minutes into the movie and Kamini makes her presence felt. Naa Ninna Bidalaare starts getting interesting with Kamini coming into the story. Wedding cards start flying out of the window, Dog starts barking at nothing visible. A buffalo runs into the marriage procession injuring people and smacking down Krishna off his ride. Bad omens start happening. Gayatri is worried, but Krishna doesn't believe in bad omens or god. He comforts her by saying they are coincidental.

But Krishna starts acting weird on the wedding night and Gayatri is scared. No one knows what is happening or what is causing this.

At this point, Naa Ninna Bidalare makes you interested in knowing what is happening. We are curious as we don't know what is causing it or who Kamini is. Fear of unknown works well.

But your curiosity dies once the secret is revealed and it is revealed too early in the movie. And Kamini is too eager to show herself up and starts making multiple appearences and as 'more we see it, less we fear', Kamini starts to feel less intimidating. Kamini talking to people and people calmly listening to her story doesn't help the cause. Kamini was menacing when she did things invsisble than when she made her appearence.

Post this point, Naa Ninna Bidalaare is quite disoraganized with multiple comedy scenes, songs and a flashback. And there is no build-up to the climax. You just move into it. But climax is definitely a high point of the movie, with Kamini putting her evil powers on display and Gayatri trying to save her husband from Kamini.

Anant Nag and Lakshmi do justice to their roles. Music by Rajan-Nagendra is good. Overall, Naa Ninna Bidalare is a decent watch. And it has definitely aged as it was made more than 35 years back. You wont get scared watching this movie now.
