Critic Reviews Oppam

  • Times of India | Review By -Asha Prakash Rating-6/10
Priyadarshan's Oppam has a few elements to create some entertainingly 'tensed' moments through its length, but it's not one of those gripping thrillers that leave you content when you leave the hall. Watch Oppam if you are a Mohanlal fan, but don't expect the much-loved magic of a Mohanlal - Priyadarshan film to get repeated this time.

  • Manorama | Review By -G Ragesh Rating-7/10
The action sequences are perfectly choreographed and Mohanlal excel in them. Compared to Priyadarshan's recent outings in Mollywood, all of which bombed in the box office, Oppam is a carefully crafted film. By and large, Oppam is well-made, neatly performed and a one-time watch during the festive season.

The legendary charm of the Mohanlal-Priyadarshan, which was not visible in the duo's last few outings, is back in its full glory, in Oppam. The director has successfully made a flawless thriller, despite this being his first attempt. Verdict A perfect cliff-hanging movie experience for both the Mohanlal-Priyadarshan fans, and movie fanatics.

  • Indian Express | Review By -Goutham VS Rating-6/10
But take away that moment of senselessness and this is an engaging film which offers the vintage Mohanlal-Priyadarshan combo and a relatively interesting plot. Watching Mohanlal as Jayaraman, one is reminded of the skill set this actor possesses. He seamlessly becomes his character and so smooth is the transition that you forget the effort that must have gone into it.

  • Rediff | Review By -Paresh C Palicha Rating-7/10
It's an interesting film with the basics of the typical Priyadarshan films remaining in place. The biggest positive about Oppam is that Mohanlal gives more sharpness and detailing to the writing and direction with his extraordinary performance and that makes the film a must watch.

  • Behindwoods | Review By -BW Review Rating-7/10
Ron Ethan Yohann has done a job with the background score that helps to create suspense and tension in the movie. Cinematography by Ekambaram is splendid, and when put together with Ayyapan Nair's perfect edits results in a spine chilling thriller. Overall, Oppan is a brilliant movie from Priyadarshan-Mohanlal combo.
