Critic Reviews Jaguar

  • Times of India | Review By -Sunayana Suresh Rating-7/10
While this film has all that matters for a commercial potboiler and is also made in a rather slick, contemporary style, the film, in totality, falls just short of being extravagant. There is a good back story, there are sentiments and there is an interesting screenplay, but they don't sum up together to generate that wow factor.

For once, a hyped debut movie does not disappoint. Jaguar is not a great film but isn't a pushover either. It has the kind of budget-induced grandeur and big names that most debutants can only dream of. Nikhil Kumar manages to bring enough hard work from behind the scenes to make it worthwhile.

However, apart from Nikhil who drives it exceptionally well when considering that it is his first ever venture and belonging to a political family, the overall performance of it for almost two-and-a-half hour is just an average experience.

They say money is the root cause of all evils. The film is a showcase of what money can buy; an ensemble cast, foreign locations, nauseatingly over the top promotions, and rich production values. But Jaguar also unwittingly becomes a showcase of what money can’t buy. He fights well, dances well, but when it comes to acting, he’s better on with a mask on his face, preferably a full mask.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Y Sunitha Chowdhary Rating-2/10
Is Jaguar the worst thing ever to happen to a newcomer? Undoubtedly yes, like it happens to every big hero launch.  The writer has given a reasonably good plot but only an experienced actor could have pulled it off. Also Nikhil with his modest looks couldn’t gel with the character written for him, the exuberance notwithstanding.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Archana Nathan
The film-maker seems to have given Nikhil lengthy dialogues, vigorous dance moves and elaborate action sequences but when it comes to emoting for the screen, the actor is not quite there yet. As a launch-pad, Nikhil’s Jaguar is glossy but fails to disguise its ordinariness.

  • 123 Telugu | Review By -123Telugu Rating-5/10
Jaguar has a very interesting plot which has been let down by the lack luster second half. Superb production values and some decent thrills are basic assets of this pakka commerical formula film. Now that there is heavy competition for Dussera, it would be really interesting to see how this below average action entertainer fares at the box office.

  • Now Running | Review By -NR Review Rating-4/10
Dialogues are good in parts while the production values are excellent. Jaguar is a decent product sans the hero. But then, the audience sitting before the big screen will find to ignore that one factor which lingers on screen in every scene. The movie may go well with mass audience to some extent.

  • AP Herald | Review By -Siva Kumar Rating-4/10
On the whole, the movie has an interesting plot, which is let down by flat second half and some silly scenes. Production values and some thrills lift the movie. Tamannaah's item song is a big plus. But with Dusshera competition, it is too hard to survive at Box-office.

  • Chitramala | Review By -Vikram Guru Rating-5/10
This movie do not have any content which should be made on a huge budget of 75 crores. This much of budget is spent just to make grand launch and make the film look good. To sum up, Jaguar is a High Budgeted debut gone haywire.
