Critic Reviews Force 2

  • News 18 | Review By -Rajeev Masand Rating-4/10
Force 2 isn’t unwatchable, and it won’t give you a migraine either. But it is a wildly inconsistent film that fills up the gaps between its many action sequences with ridiculous attempts at humor and drama. I’m going with two out of five. Hopefully this franchise ends here.

Force 2 is the kind of film in which the villain — Shiv, played by Tahir Raj Bhasin — plays the harmonica while bodies fly around him. The action sequences are elaborate and nicely choreographed, but they seem to run on endlessly. I got exhausted just watching John chase Tahir all over Budapest rooftops.

John Abraham is intense and impressive when he’s breaking jaws and lifting cars, Tahir Raj Bhasin is good and shows his vulnerable side. It’s a decent time at the cinema for the thrill-seekers; the action won’t disappoint. Go ahead and may the force be with you!

The fundamental flaw in a film like this -- other than the repetitive wowlessness of it all -- is the fact that by creating too dry and no-nonsense protagonists instead of fleshing them out as characters, you end up failing the genre. There is only one thing a smashing action movie should aim to be: fantastic nonsense.

  • NDTV | Review By -Saibal Chatterjee Rating-5/10
It's the sheer predictability of this narrative form that drags Force 2 down a few notches. Be that as it may, it is an entertainer that passes muster. And if you are a John Abraham fan, there can be no reason whatever to give Force 2 a miss.

Force 2 movie review: John Abraham is efficient and does what he needs to, Tahir Raj Bhasin adds complexity to his character. However, much more was needed to rise above the sluggish script.

At the end of its 127 minutes run amidst relentless gunshots and car crashes, charm (on Force 2's end) and clemency (on mine) has run its course. What prevails is more phew than force.

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Rohit Vats Rating-4/10
Force 2 has a noble heart. It wants to get the undercover agents, who selflessly serve the nation, their due. But the narrative hasn’t taken a favourable shape. Sadly, it’s mostly about muscles and very less about intelligence.

Force 2 raises a tricky point. Should RAW agents be named and called martyrs instead of the country washing its hands off them if they're killed in service? Force 2 is a decent one-time watch. Just make sure your ears are seasoned to bear loud noise.

  • DNA | Review By -Tushar Joshi Rating-6/10
Force 2 is a great watch mainly because it stays true to its genre and provides ample adrenaline rush. John Abraham is in top form and the film has some of the best action sequences shot this year. Force 2 has loads of bang worth your buck.

  • Koimoi | Review By -Surabhi Redkar Rating-6/10
Force 2 is surprisingly easily watchable. The film’s action sequences are shot well and those who love to watch John Abraham in his usual rough and tough avatar, will enjoy it.

  • Mid Day | Review By -Shaheen Parker Rating-4/10
Often in a film, especially towards the end, one of the characters spouts a dialogue that surmises what's going on in the audience's mind. This time around John says it mid-way, a few moments after the intermission — Something's going wrong. He gets it bang on. 'Force 2' is high on style, low on substance.

How does Abraham manage to keep his bath towel tied securely when he’s executing punches and blows at the baddies who spring on him? While that answer may remain elusive, Force 2 is engaging enough to give it a shot.

  • Bollywood Hungama | Review By -BH Review Rating-6/10
FORCE 2 is a power packed adrenaline pumping action thriller which has the right mixture of zing and force. However the lack of chartbuster music, romance and demonetisation might act as a spoilsport for the movie. All in all, FORCE 2 is however worth a shot!
