Critic Reviews Jolly LLB 2

  • Times of India | Review By -Meena Iyer Rating-8/10
In top-form, Akshay puts up a perfect display of a street-smart lawyer who hasn’t read legal tomes but who has instead picked up tips from courtroom corridors to become Jolly LLB. Huma and Annu are also compelling enough. It is the fine display of histrionics by all these refined actors, which makes the movie, worth seeing.

Akshay Kumar's film is a pure win. It has a solid plot, a strong sense of time and place and rhythm, and a message that is delivered without sanctimony. Jolly LLB 2 is a cracking watch, despite its few squelchy parts. Aur yeh lock kiya jaaye, mi’lord.

  • NDTV | Review By -Saibal Chatterjee Rating-6/10
Jolly LLB 2 does well not to take itself too seriously. It has the feel of a good-natured banter between friends rather than that of an inflated inquest conducted from a pedestal. Scintillating? No. Enjoyable? Absolutely.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Namrata Joshi Rating-6/10
What Jolly LLB 2 essentially shows is how the marriage of opposites—the mainstream dramatic tropes and a realistic tapestry—can be the formula to go for, for Bollywood. That is of course, until it gets done to death.

But all is well that ends well. And Akshay Kumar ensures that you keep laughing at regular intervals. He makes you remember Warsi, but also adds his touch to Jolly. Overlook some of the minor flaws and you have a 140-minute solid entertainer on your hands.

  • Rediff | Review By -Sukanya Verma Rating-7/10
What’s nice though that even when Jolly LLB 2 relaxes its fun side to venture into serious terrain, it retains its spunk and irony. Once again, Akshay Kumar leaps into the dramatic space of verbal volleys and paan-stained pearlies with ease.

  • Mid Day | Review By -Mayank Shekhar Rating-6/10
Akshay Kumar's performance as Jolly can be termed his finest yet. This one captures UP in all its notorious glory, with goons, and guns and is far more of a court-room drama, packaged as social satire, with comedy that’s subtly situational, rather than classic LOL stand-up stuff.

  • India Today | Review By -Ananya Bhattacharya Rating-7/10
Jolly LLB 2 feels stretched at times. It is a crowd-pleaser alright, but director Subhash Kapoor goes overboard with melodrama at certain points in the film. The film could have been a lot tighter and streamlined had the filmmaker concentrated on just the case.

Above all Saurabh Shukla as the judge, habituated to bouts of moodiness and yet sharp as a blade, is outstanding. The extra half-star for Jolly LLB  2 is just for enjoying the pleasure of his company once more with feeling.

‘Jolly LLB 2’ should definitely be on your to-do list for the weekend. The film might not satisfy you as much as the first one might have, but you surely won’t come out disappointed out of the theatres.

Akshay Kumar fans and Jolly LLB fans both will be satisfied with this film that has a mix of comedy, emotion and some serious commentary on judiciary system. Jolly LLB 2 is entertaining as well as hard hitting. Saurabh Shukla is a stunner while Akshay is once again at his best.

  • Bolywood Hungama | Review By -BH Review Rating-7/10
Had the film been reduced by a few minutes, it would have definitely created a stronger impact. On the whole, JOLLY LLB 2 comes across as a powerful courtoom drama which is laced with humour as well as emotions.

  • Gulf News | Review By -Manjusha Radhakrishnan Rating-5/10
It’s the pacing that’s a let down and there are moments when the thrilling bits of the case feels overly stretched. Perhaps, shaving off those bits would have helped. However, one of the refreshing parts about this Hindi film is the realistic sparring between lawyers and sometimes with the judge.
