Critic Reviews Running Shaadi

  • Times of India | Review By -Reza Noorani Rating-6/10
The story is funny and irreverent and the performances up to the mark. The music never gets in the way of the story and the length, at 1 hour 55 minutes is just right. While the constant beeping out of the .com at the end of the title is a tad irritating.

  • News 18 | Review By -Rajeev Masand Rating-4/10
In the end Running Shaadi is amusing, but only in fits and starts. Frankly the only ones running will be you towards the exit door when the lights come back on in the end. I’m going with a generous two out of five.

  • Film Companion | Review By -Anupama Chopra Rating-4/10
The leads – Amit Sadh and Taapsee Pannu – try to rescue the flailing script but there are too many holes to fill.  The two share an easy camaraderie and with a better narrative, they might have created a sparkling romance. Sadly, this one has too few laughs and not enough meat.

  • NDTV | Review By -Saibal Chatterjee Rating-3/10
Even if we were to make allowances for its generally inoffensive nature, there would still be no running away from the fact that this is a shoddy shaadi, not the kind that will have you dancing in the aisles with joy.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Namrata Joshi
There is a timeless arc to the film-journeying to discover true love-but it’s the little things that happen within the larger voyage that work for it. Running Shaadi is a quaint film that keeps you smiling in a mellow way.

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Rohit Vats Rating-4/10
Director Amit Roy may have unnecessarily stretched the film to 114 minutes. Running Shaadi has its moments, but they are too few to keep you engrossed.

  • Mumbai Mirror | Review By -Kunal Guha Rating-5/10
Given that the broad definition of 'consensual marriage' in our country is parents from both sides backing the alliance, this one had potential for a crackling comedy. But it fails to capitalise on the quirks as it is too consumed by the basic premise and dives right into the pitfalls.

  • Deccan Chronicle | Review By -Rohit Bhatnagar Rating-6/10
The film could have been built better on the edit table. In the entire film, ‘.com’ has been muted and blurred, which is jarring. Overall, ‘Running Shaadi’ can be seen over this weekend as the film will be a perfect outing with your entire family.

  • India Today | Review By -Devarsi Ghosh Rating-6/10
Running Shaadi on paper seems trite, but it is consistently engaging because newer and wilder plot developments get thrown at you (Roy is also the writer) and you cannot help but continue to run with its characters to find out what eventually becomes of them.

  • News 18 | Review By -Sameeksha Dandriyal Rating-6/10
Overall, despite few hiccups, the entire good vibe and vibrant nature of Running Shaadi makes it a worthy watch this weekend. Just go for this easy-breezy film and come out with a smile or a plan of elopement during a wedding.

  • Koimoi | Review By -Surabhi Redkar Rating-5/10
Running Shaadi comes across as a good comic caper that tackles modern day relationships in an interesting manner. It could make up for a fun watch for those who like Jab We Met, Band Baaja Baraat kind of films.

  • Bollywood Hungama | Review By -BH Review Rating-3/10
The film's cinematography is below average. The film's editing is mediocre as well. On the whole, RUNNING SHAADI is an entertaining film, but only in parts. The film suffers from the lack of an interesting drama.

  • Gulf News | Review By -Manjusha Radhakrishnan Rating-5/10
But it’s disappointing that the story couldn’t sustain the momentum and the promise that it showed initially. It’s also annoying to see characters bleep out the word ‘.com’ in their dialogues due to a lawsuit against the title.
