Critic Reviews The Ghazi Attack

  • Times of India | Review By -Renuka Vyavahare Rating-6/10
The second half keeps you on the edge of your seat as the submarines go head-to-head, firing torpedoes while dodging and defending themselves. Despite the hitches, this underwater thriller is worth a watch.

  • NDTV | Review By -Saibal Chatterjee Rating-5/10
The Ghazi Attack offers an unprecedented and detailed peep into the workings of a Navy submarine and its crew although much of what is said and done in the course of two hours and bit could still be gobbledygook for the lay viewer.

  • Mid Day | Review By -Mayank Shekhar Rating-6/10
Yup, you don't take your eyes off the screen. The production design appears exceptional, because it's unexpected. We don't make such movies in India, even while we've been watching such from the West since forever.

  • Mumbai Mirror | Review By -Kunal Guha Rating-6/10
The film packs in enough near-collisions, engine failures and torpedo evasions to keep you excited through most of the 125 minutes that make up its runtime. Cumulatively, The Ghazi Attack makes for a history worthy of repeating on the big screen.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Namrata Joshi
It’s a straightforward, chronological, well-acted and intermittently engaging watch, which tries to stir the right patriotic feeling in keeping with the times, down to the appropriation of the national anthem, Sare jahan se achcha and Bharat Mata Ki Jai chants within the film.

  • Koimoi | Review By -Surabhi Redkar Rating-6/10
The second half is completely gripping with a cat and mouse chase happening between the two submarines. The Ghazi Attack is interesting enough as a story untold. It could be your pick if you have liking for war films.

If you love watching a war movie, that too about a mission that is mired under the weight of being 'classified' and under the sea, the truth about which can surface only exploring the depth of the sea bed, then The Ghazi Attack is a must watch film.

  • Deccan Chronicle | Review By -Rohit Bhatnagar Rating-5/10
The Ghazi Attack is an interesting choice for this weekend unless you aren’t willing to watch a patriotic film which the makers haven’t projected it as at all. But don’t expect the chills you get after seeing films like Border, Chak De India, Rang De Basanti or Dangal.

  • India Today | Review By -Devarsi Ghosh Rating-8/10
The film has an exceptionally tight screenplay that does not stop for a minute to breathe. It is single-mindedly focused on the cat-and-mouse game between the players inside both the submarines, S-21 and Ghazi, which try to constantly locate and outsmart each other.

  • DNA | Review By -Bryan Durham Rating-5/10
Watch it once. More so, if you haven’t watched the likes of Hollywood films Crimson Tide or U-571. Watch this one for Rana and some great underwater action sequences.

  • Indian Express | Review By -Shalini Langer Rating-3/10
Rana Daggubati and Kay Kay Menon film could have been an engrossing crisis-at-sea drama but the film is so busy slaying Pakistanis that it loses sight of its core strengths.

  • News 18 | Review By -Divya Pal Rating-3/10
The film which is largely set in the interiors of the submarine comes across as a failed attempt by director Sankalp Reddy to the underwater genre. While we like the way he has used patriotism, his direction is as unimpressive as his writing.

  • Bollywood Hungama | Review By -BH Review Rating-7/10
The VFX used in the film though could have been better. On the whole, THE GHAZI ATTACK is a gripping war drama that leaves a stunning impact. Definitely, a must watch.
