Critic Reviews Commando 2

  • Times of India | Review By -Renuka Vyavahare Rating-5/10
The blaring 'Commando commando' background during the action scenes is strikingly outdated. Overstretched and uninspiring, this film is reminiscent of a poor man's Abbas Mustan film. Even decent action cannot salvage this dreary supposed crime thriller.

  • News 18 | Review By -Rajeev Masand Rating-4/10
Vidyut does a crazy, eye-popping number of stunts – including one in which he slips effortlessly through a cubby hole – but the action feels overlong and repetitive since it’s in service of a frankly underwhelming plot.

  • NDTV | Review By -Saibal Chatterjee Rating-3/10
The plot of Commando 2 is so terribly convoluted that it stops making sense. But that's not the problem: one doesn't expect an actioner like this to stem from a thinking man's screenplay. The trouble is that even at the unabashedly lowbrow level at which the film functions, it seems totally out of its depth.

  • Film Companion | Review By -Anupama Chopra Rating-4/10
The first Commando was no masterpiece but it was an effective genre picture that benefitted greatly from a strong performance by Jaideep Ahlawat. Here there is lots of slow motion posturing but very little common sense. I’m going with two stars.

  • Indian Express | Review By -Shubhra Gupta Rating-3/10
What is missing is a plot, muscular enough to service a racy, pacy actioner. Commando 2 takes us to global hotspots in its tracking of the ‘kaala-dhan’ and the well-dressed criminals who handle the cash, but is hampered by a lack of freshness.

But there is hardly any high voltage drama, the kind that gives you the adrenaline rush, save in the opening credits and a sequence in the finale that has been shot like a video game.

  • Hindustan Times | Review By -Rohit Vats Rating-4/10
Apart from Jammwal, only Adah Sharma is notice-worthy as a Gucci loving, trigger happy cop from Hyderabad. Commando 2 lacks heart and is all muscles. If may not even quench your thirst for some adrenaline-pumping stunts.

  • Spoyboye | Review By -Khalid Mohamed Rating-2/10
Technically serviceable, there are no other redeeming factors, be it the music score which sounds like a feeble lion’s roar, or the production design which is strictly the same-ole. Occasionally, an action set piece does shake you out of your slumber. Zzzzzz in  this war and peace fiesta otherwise.

  • Rediff | Review By -Sukanya Verma Rating-2/10
There's more unintended hilarity and very little combat to justify the existence of a sequel. Commando 2's endlessly mindless proceedings do not come anywhere close to fulfilling that criterion.

But the film lacks the much-needed surprise element and the story, at one point, seems to be written while filming. Even the action sequences offer little novelty.

  • Deccan Chronicle | Review By -Rohit Bhatnagar Rating-2/10
The film starts off quite well until the interval but disappoints in the second half completely. The film is also undone by the unintentionally hilarious and downright illogical ‘technical’ aspects forced into the plot.

  • Bollywood Hungama | Review By -BH Review Rating-4/10
The film’s editing is average. A special mention to the film’s action director (Franz Spilhaus) for the breath taking action sequences. On the whole, COMMANDO 2 is a predictable entertainer that would appeal only to its target audience.

  • Koimoi | Review By -Surabhi Redkar Rating-4/10
The characters are fickle. Dialogues are so hammy that you’re bored to even listen them fully. Examples would be, “Zinda reh ke kaunsa swach bharat ka jhanda uthane wala tha yeh” or “Mere haath pair toh khud mere orders nahi mante.”

  • Gulf News | Review By -Manjusha Radhakrishnan Rating-4/10
While it’s delightful to see Jammwal ferociously use his body strength to demolish his enemies, it’s the cheesy dialogues that weigh this film down. For every neat stunt — like his body sliding through a narrow window — a door filled with cliched punch lines popped open.
