  • Filmi Beat | Review By -Avinash Gopinath Rating-6/10
The driving force of Idhu Namma Aalu is Pandiraj's dialogues. It is his screenplay and dialogues that make this film, which has a wafer-thin storyline, enjoyable.Idhu Namma Aalu is nothing more than a breezy rom-com which is fairly engaging. Could've been a lot better but definitely worth your time.

Summing it up, Idhu Namma Aalu is a light hearted film that entertains mostly and may find a lot of takers in the youth sector. Idhu Namma Aalu Movie is a breezy youthful entertainer which engages the audience fairly well with a lot of humor.

  • DNA | Review By -Latha Srinivasan Rating-4/10
Idhu Namma Aalu is touted as a rom-com but it is painful to sit through. The story is just very old wine in a hollow new bottle and there's no exciting twist in the story. Most of the second half of the film is just the conversation between Siva and Myla.

  • Times Of India | Review By -M Suganth Rating-5/10
The problem with Idhu Namma Aalu is that Pandiraj seems to have gotten content with his leads that he fails to create an engaging story around them. Every moment feels stretched beyond its welcome, and there are many scenes where we can sense that the director is trying too hard to make them seem cute.

Since most of the second half is the conversation between Siva and Myla, after a point it gets tedious. The main problem with INA is that Pandiraj, (known for his sensitive portrayals) fails to come out with a concrete story. As a result, we really don’t feel for the characters.

  • Rediff | Review By -S Saraswathi
The narrative moves at a deliberate pace, getting tedious especially in the second half, with Simbu and Nayanthara endlessly crooning sweet nothings to each other over the phone. Nonetheless, the charming performances by the lead actors make director Pandiraj’s Idha Namma Aalu worth a watch.

  • Bollywood Life | Review By -H Shivkumar Rating-6/10
The one major problem with Idhu Namma Aalu is the thin plot. By the interval, you can pretty much guess what the story is going to be about. Definitely a one time watch for all Tamil cinema lovers. Simbu fans can rest assured that their hero finally has a hit under his belt after years. At the end, Idhu Namma Aalu is an enjoyable romantic movie that will leave you with a smile.

  • Piping Hot Views | Review By -Anand
‘Idhu Namma Aalu’ attempts to be a breezy urban rom-com with some attractive stars essaying the lead roles. However, post the 1st half, the film becomes almost unbearable with the amount of cheesiness on show, and Soori’s wisecracks are the only saving grace.

  • The Hindu | Review By -Baradwaj Rangan
Idhu Namma Aalu is the story of a couple that gets together through an arranged-marriage setup, and Pandiraj captures the natural moments that occur in such a situation — the getting-to-know-you part, the does-she-have-a-past part, the hours-and- hours-on-the-phone, the going-on-long-drives-with-Ilayaraja- songs… Pandiraj is trying to make a young, cool film.

  • AP Herald | Review By -Comman Man Rating-5/10
The movie has a routine story but with an interesting screenplay. But some draggy portions in second half makes the movie watchable once. The movie has solid cast, witty one liners, excellent songs. But still something is missing ! The movie never moves to interesting lane at any point and that is the only flaw. The movie is all about newly married couples and others can recollect their memories. For those who are about to get married, the movie is an eye-opener.
