Shashank's films are known for masala entertainment and that one finds aplenty here. The film does not disappoint fans who watched the first part, for there is a Preetham, a Nandini and even a wedding house in hilly Karnataka, but all served in a different presentation with new spices. This film is for those who love the trademark romantic capers.

Except for the last 30 minutes, there is nothing worthwhile in this venture. Even those 30 minutes are bearable only for having undergone the pain in the previous two hours. Shashank's attempt is forced and he seems to have fallen for the routine traps under the weight of those expectations.

But unfortunately the sequel which intends to 'quench' and 'drench' with excitement, ends up resulting in boredom while music and the background score being the biggest drawback apart from the 'royal' dull experience.

Mungaru Male 2 is vacuous and insufferable as can be. Director Shashank does woeful dis-service to Bhat foisting a distasteful film on unsuspecting audiences. Those expecting encore of Bhat’s Mungaru forget it. Even Shekar Chandra’s fluid camerawork fails to salvage Male 2. It is best to revisit Bhat’s 2006 original to relive the musical romance of yesteryear.

Ganesh tries his best to recreate the magic of Mungaru Male. But without a well written script and some weak dialogues, he is left to rehash his old performances and that’s a bit of a bore. MM2 tries to ride on the Mungaru Male bandwagon and ironically, that proves to be its biggest bane. People can’t help comparing that with Mungaru Male, and it falls short on all accounts, despite some real good cinematography and good music.

Mungaru Male 2 is a complete package. There is fun, excitement, romance, comedy, good music, great photography and an excellent narration. It is a perfect sequel to the original film.
