Critic Reviews Kung Fu Yoga

  • Times of India | Review By -Nihit Bhave Rating-4/10
The nearest thing that the movie has to a quick repartee is not between any two characters but an interaction between Chan and a lion, which forces some giggles out of you. If you’re going for the Kung Fu, chances are you’ll end up in a meditative state instead.

The only time I had a good laugh was watching his expressions fly as he sportingly shook a leg in the film’s big Bollywood-style dance number. Kung Fu Yoga is a disappointment for Jackie Chan fans. The actor deserves better, and so do we.

And where’s the yoga you ask? Well, in one scene, the characters use a ‘fetal breath-holding technique’ to escape. That should give you some idea of what I’ve been through. I’m going with one star.

  • NDTV | Review By -Saibal Chatterjee Rating-4/10
A dizzyingly fast-paced but musty mish-mash of martial arts, stunts and comedy, Kung Fu Yoga isn't the kind of film that has any time to pause and ponder. Neither, obviously, would its audience be inclined to seek deeper meaning in its fantastical narrative construct.

The only time this Oriental Indiana Jones flickers to life is in an item song with the entire cast and lots of extras. It proves two things: that the clearly ageing Chan can shake a leg. And that song and dance, especially if it is a Farah Khan special, still rules.

  • First Post | Review By -Anna MM Vetticad Rating-2/10
Apart from the couple of laughs Chan manages to elicit and a somewhat interesting episode in which the younger cast try to escape a pack of hungry hyenas in Randall’s abode, there is truly nothing to recommend Kung Fu Yoga.

The rest of this movie just reminded me of any other episode from the Pamela Anderson show VIP from the '90s. You remember that? I seriously don't know why I do.

Worn down by shabby aesthetics and absurd mumbo jumbo, Kung Fu Yoga assaults both senses and soul. Not a combination you want to try.

  • Koimoi | Review By -Surabhi Redkar Rating-4/10
Kung Fu Yoga has a plot that is completely yawn worthy. It’s like watching a spoof of Nicholas Cage’s National Treasure. The film’s story lacks intelligence and the dialogue is so forced that it seems like a history reading class.

'Kung Fu Yoga' is definitely a waste of time but can recommend to kids over the weekend. Don’t expect logic even for a second, or else you will come out scratching your head.

In his films, he experimented with freestyle running, hopping over walls, vehicles and everything that would obstruct his path. You should too -- only in the opposite direction from the multiplex that's screening this film.
